"General Kornilov" ("Light armored train No. 2" or "2nd Armored train")

"Light armored train No. 2" was formed on July 27, 1918. The armored train included 2 gun platforms with a 3-inch gun of the 1900 model and a 47 mm gun of the Hotchkiss system, as well as a machine-gun platform. Colonel Gromyko became the commander of the armored train.

The baptism of fire "Light armored train No. 2" received on August 4 in the battles near Stavropol, where the offensive of the Reds was stopped. It was then that this armored train first came to Tuapse.

In the second half of August - early September 1918, together with the United Russia armored train , he took part in the attack on Armavir in the Stavropol-Armavir sector.

After the capture of Armavir by the Taman army, the "Second Light" withdrew from the city in the direction of the Caucasian, and together with the "United Russia" took part in the storming of Armavir by the Volunteer Army on October 13. In this battle, the armored train received a direct hit from a shell in the gun platform and subsequently, probably, departed for repairs, since in the ensuing attack on Stavropol, instead of it, "1 Armored Train" became a "light partner" of "United Russia " .

Little is known about the combat path of this armored train in 1919. In July 1919, he joined Yudenich's army and acted on the Northern Front, where he took part in an artillery duel with a red armored train "Named Volodarsky" near the city of Koporye. In October 1919, "General Kornilov" took part in the storming of Orel, operating on the Malmyzhi-Novosil railway. The author of the site does not yet know where and when exactly the armored train received the name "General Kornilov".

Around February 20, 1920, the General Kornilov armored train was again sent to Tuapsinka, to the Armavir-Tuapse section to fight the so-called "green" and the Reds advancing from the east. Later, this armored train shared the fate of the Forward for the Motherland armored train, as well as several others, having fought to Tuapse, and then defending this city.

On March 25, 1920, General Kornilov's armored platforms were thrown into the sea in Tuapse. According to other sources, the armored train was left at the Goyth station. The last commander of the General Kornilov was Captain Prokopovich.
